Plants that
from January 2002 have an Award of Garden Merit from the Royal
Horticultural Society are indicated with this symbol. The AGM is awarded
by a committee of the RHS to plants that have the following qualities:
1 Outstanding excellence for garden
decoration or use
1 Available in the trade
1 Of good constitution
1 Require neither highly specialist
growing conditions nor care
The AGM does
not imply that the plants are suitable for the open garden; an RHS
hardiness rating is given for each AGM plant. Careful readers will note
that most of our plants do not have an AGM. This does not mean that they
are not worth growing! Some of them are new to the RHS too!
